On October 4th, members of the Southeast Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association and the Capital Area Nursery & Landscape Association met at the Island Lake Shooting Range in Brighton to compete in the 2nd Annual Green Industry Chapter Shoot Out Competition. The event featured a friendly competition as the teams shot at 50 sporting clays on a 7-station course.
As we arrived, the clouds cleared and the sun came out (the first time we’d seen it in days) and it turned into a beautiful day for the outing.
After the event we all went over to Unilock® Michigan, Inc. where we enjoyed a delicious dinner, networking and a tour of their Outdoor Idea Center. Our appreciation goes to Tom Niebauer, Unilock General Manager, SEMNLA President Justin Ward, and the entire Unilock Team for their continued support of our great, Green Industry and for hosting this event.
It was a fun afternoon and the competition was close but three individuals and one team rose to the top to win the Shoot Out. In 1st place our sharp shooter was Jack Zendt of Rocks ‘N’ Roots hitting 47 out of 50 clays. In 2nd place it was a tie between Jim Sykes and Josh DeYonker from the Alta Equipment team hitting 44, and in 3rd place we had Jason Zendt of Rocks ‘N’ Roots hitting 41 out of 50 clays. And this year’s winning team is…drum role please…from the Southeast Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association, Team Rocks ‘N’ Roots — Jack Zendt, Jason Zendt, Aaron Phillips, and Jered Baumert! For the second year in a row, team Rocks ‘N’ Roots will take the championship traveling trophy back to their office to be proudly displayed until next year’s competition. Make sure to stop by Rocks ‘N’ Roots to see it proudly displayed!
Congratulations to all of our winners and our appreciation goes to all of the Chapter members that participated.
